Questions to Ask a Lawyer
Before Hiring Them

THE LEAST YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ASKING YOUR LAWYER QUESTIONS:

- You deserve to work directly with a lawyer, not support staff.

- Experience matters.

- If you have a question - ask it.  Your future depends on it.

Make sure your lawyer addresses the following items during your initial appointment.

Questions To Ask Your Lawyer

What percentage of your cases are bankruptcy cases?

Have you ever handled a bankruptcy case with facts similar to my case?

Can you give me a brief overview of the likely timeline of events in my case?

What is your policy regarding returning client phone calls?

Are there any obvious "red flag" issues in my case and what can we do about them?

Will you (the lawyer) handle my case personally or will it be given to someone else to handle (a secretary or paralegal)?

What are my non-bankruptcy options?

What are the differences between the different chapters of bankruptcy?

Does it appear that I may lose any property as a result of filing bankruptcy?

Do you use a written fee agreement?

Have your previous clients been happy with the service you have provided them?  Do you have any client testimonials I could read?
